Fashion Show at Reston Town Center

Andrea Roane, former WUSA-TV 9 anchor and reporter, to serve as emcee for ‘Runway to the Cure.’

Reston Runway to the Cure, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit, has announced its third annual Runway to the Cure Fashion Show at the Pavilion at Reston Town Center on Saturday, Oct. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. All models in this event are breast cancer survivors whose stories from illness to triumph will be shared as part of the experience. The show will highlight designer fashions from Reston Town Center fashion sponsors Scout & Molly’s Boutique, Chico’s, Davelle, J. McLaughlin, Talbots, Potomac River Running, Athleta, and South Moon Under. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the local Step Sisters service organization.

“We are excited for our third Runway to the Cure to showcase local fashions and, more importantly, honor our models, all women who are breast cancer warriors. These brave women’s stories are truly inspirational to hear as they walk the runway. This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate them, raise money for a worthwhile cause, and mix fun and fashion to create a wonderful community effort,” said Jane Abraham, owner of Scout & Molly’s Boutique Reston Town Center, and the event founder and Board Chair.

Former WUSA-TV 9 anchor and reporter Andrea Roane will serve as the emcee for the Saturday night event. “It’s very meaningful that Andrea Roane has agreed to be part of our special night, particularly since she launched the Buddy Check 9 initiative in 1993, which highlighted the importance of early detection,” said Theresa Goudie, Board Vice Chair.

In addition to the fashion show, many area restaurants and vendors are providing outstanding raffle and silent auction items and discounts throughout the evening, ranging from outfits donated by fashion sponsors, great dinner packages, gift baskets, jewelry, autographed Washington Capitals’ and Redskins’ memorabilia and more.

There is a suggested $25 donation for entrance to the event, although all breast cancer survivors are invited to attend for free. All proceeds from donations, raffles and silent auction will benefit Susan G. Komen® Breast Cancer Foundation and Step Sisters.

The Reston Town Center Pavilion is located at 11900 Market Street, Reston. The event will be held rain or shine under the covered Pavilion. Garage parking is free.
