Katie Shaw, Manager of the Walker Nature Center in Reston lets their resident corn snake pick her own reading material. The snake has been her species’ ambassador at the center for almost 2 years. “She’s really great with people,” says Shaw, who wants to remind potential snake owners that snakes can live more than 20 years, so think twice about a snake as a pet.
