Ferrari Club Holds Annual Spring Thaw

The Mid-Atlantic Region of the Ferrari Club of America held their Annual Spring Thaw event in Reston Town Center on Saturday, April 14. The weather cooperated brilliantly and the cars, parked along Market Street as well as in the Pavilion itself, sparkled in the sunshine. The pedestrianized street was crowded with people checking out the vehicles and stopping to take photos of themselves and family members in front of cars both new and classic. There were many local entries, as well as cars from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and even Florida on display.

Reston Community Orchestra Celebrates ‘Caribbean Night’

"Well, that was fun, and it certainly was different!" That’s the comment that was often heard as the appreciative crowd left the Reston Community Center Saturday evening. Utilizing a different venue and a totally new theme, the Reston Community Orchestra put on a successful Annual Benefit that was pleasing to everyone.

Installation and performance combine action and form.

Reston Community Center, the Initiative for Public Art – Reston, Friends of Lake Anne and the Reston Museum are co-presenting Out of Place, a site-situated installation and contemporary dance performance conceived by architect Ronit Eisenbach and dance artist Sharon Mansur, inspired by the history of the planned community of 1960s New Town of Reston and the sculpture and architecture of Lake Anne Plaza. The dance performance will take place on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Anne Plaza.

Egg Hunting in Brown’s Chapel Park

Community Center hosts annual Eggnormous Egg Hunt.

As children ages 1 through 9 gathered at Brown’s Chapel Park in Reston Saturday morning, they separated themselves by age group and massed along the borders of several different roped off areas. The areas were filled with colored eggs, which meant that for many children, filling their baskets would come down to strategy.

With glittering displays of spring’s hottest fashion trends and most coveted accessories, the ballroom of the Belle Haven Country Club was transformed into a fashion-lover’s dream during the Campagna Center’s 13th annual Toast to Fashion on Thursday, March 22.

Celebrating Nowruz in Reston

Community comes together to celebrate Persian New Year.

The Persian New Year was greeted by a day-long celebration at the Reston Town Center on Sunday. Folk musicians played traditional music in the Pavilion, adults ate, talked and shopped and children played everywhere.

The Reston Chorale Presents ‘Americana’

The Reston Chorale did two performances Saturday night at the Community Center, both to full capacity and very enthusiastic audiences. There was a complete blend of styles, progressing through time from the sweet and smooth work of Pre-Civil War Stephen Foster, down to the early rock and roll of Bill Haley and finally to the edginess of the contemporary group Owl City.

When Cynthia Donavin, executive director of the Classical Ballet Theatre, was searching for inspiration to find a new location for the studio, she turned to one of the area’s most famous patrons of the arts: Reston founder Robert Simon.
