Lake Anne Plaza announced its line-up of new and popular summer events to take place on the Plaza. Lake Anne Plaza will have something for everyone during the summer season including family friendly music festivals, weekly concert series, children’s programming, fitness and art events, and summer movie flicks.
Summer events include:
JUNE
June 11-12 – Third Annual Chalk on the Water Festival - Chalk on the Water is a two-day street-painting festival where participants create street art. Festival goers can purchase a “plot” of brick space (between $5-$15) on the plaza and paint to their heart’s delight whatever flows from their imagination. 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
JULY
July 8 – Lake Anne Summer Film Festiva. Sundowns. Featured movie: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (Celebrating 30th Movie Anniversary). Free.
July 9 – Seventh Annual Ukulele Festival. The free festival features performances by several acclaimed ukulele musicians, music demonstrations, open to the public morning jam session, festival vendors, and other family friendly activities. 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Free
July 22 – Lake Anne Summer Film Festival. Sundown. Featured movie: “Toy Story.” Free.
AUGUST
Aug. 12 – Lake Anne Summer Film Festival. Sundown. Featured movie: “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Free.
Aug. 26 – Lake Anne Summer Film Festival. Sundown. Featured movie: “Lady Sings the Blues” (kicking off Lake Anne Jazz Week). Free.
Aug. 26-Sept. 3 – Jazz Week at Lake Anne - The week will feature a variety of jazz themed events that will take place from live music, merchant activities, to featured film “Lady Sings the Blues,” part of Lake Anne’s ongoing Summer Film Festival series.
SEPTEMBER
Sept. 3 – 10th Annual Lake Anne Jazz & Blues Festival. The Jazz & Blue festival is a free, family friendly, all-day event showcasing a variety of talented regional and national jazz & blues artists. 2–8 p.m. Free
WEEKLY AND SPECIAL EVENT SERIES
Lake Anne Summer Film Festival (Second and fourth Fridays in July and August). New day of the week. See above for movie listings. Free.
Children’s Programming. 11-11:45 a.m. Every Tuesday starting June 7 – July 26). Free weekly kids programming features a variety of performers for kids of all ages.
Take-A-Break Concert Series. 7-9 p.m. Every Thursday starting June 16 – Sept. 1. Grab a lawn chair and enjoy free live concerts on the Plaza. Series produced by the Reston Community Center.
Yoga on the Plaza. 9:30–10:30 a.m. Every Sunday starting May 15–Aug. 28. Stretch out and cool down to start your Sunday morning with yoga. Our talented yoga instructors will lead you through one hour of free exercise on the Plaza to the tune of fun music. Bring your own mat and water.
